DAY 1: TANGIER → CHEFCHAOUEN

Welcome to Morocco. Pickup from Tangier airport, port, or your hotel. From there we travel south through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the town whose medina is painted in endless shades of blue and white and has become one of the most photographed places in the world. The drive from Tangier takes just over two hours, and the Rif landscape — forested hills, adobe villages, and views toward the Strait of Gibraltar — already hints at the uniqueness of what is to come.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, check in to your riad and the rest of the afternoon is yours: stroll through the medina, explore the artisan souk, enjoy a mint tea on a terrace overlooking the blue rooftops, or simply get lost in the narrow alleys capturing every corner.
Overnight in a riad in Chefchaouen.

DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN → FES

Breakfast at the riad. The morning is free to continue exploring Chefchaouen before departing for Fes. The road descends from the Rif Mountains and crosses inland Morocco to the oldest city in the country.
Upon arrival in Fes, a local expert guide will take you through the medina: the maze-like medieval streets, UNESCO World Heritage Site, the University of Al Quaraouiyine founded in 859 and considered the oldest continuously operating university in the world, the Al Attarine Madrasa with its mosaic courtyard and carved wood, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the famous Chouara tanneries where leather is still produced as it has been for centuries. The Jewish quarter (Mellah) completes the visit before heading up to an ancient fortress for a panoramic view over the sea of rooftops of the medina.
Overnight in a riad in Fes.

DAY 3: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA → LUXURY CAMP

Breakfast and early departure south. First stop in Ifrane, the charming alpine town of the Middle Atlas known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its architecture and mountain climate. We cross the Middle Atlas with a stop in the cedar forest of Azrou, where Barbary macaques — unique wild primates in North Africa — live freely among the trees. Lunch at a restaurant along the route.
The road continues southeast through the Tizi n’Talghemt Pass and descends into the Ziz Valley — a seemingly endless corridor of palm groves announcing the approach of the Sahara. Arrival in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Camels are waiting at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. The journey to the luxury camp takes place during the most magical light of the desert, with a stop on a high dune to watch the sunset. Welcome tea, private tent with bathroom, dinner, and an evening around the campfire with Berber music.
Overnight in a luxury desert camp in Merzouga.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA → RISSANI → TODRA GORGE → DADES GORGES

Waking up for sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes is one of the highlights of the journey. Breakfast at the camp and return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. If the day coincides with Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, we stop at the traditional Rissani souk, one of the most authentic markets in southern Morocco where spices, ceramics, dates, and livestock are traded.
Then we continue to the Tinghir oasis with its palm groves and ancient kasbahs, followed by the Todra Gorge: limestone cliffs rise 300 meters on both sides, with the river flowing through a narrow 10-meter-wide passage. A short but impressive walk. In the afternoon, the Dades Gorges with their eroded “monkey fingers” rock formations and winding canyon road.
Overnight in a hotel in the Dades Gorges.

DAY 5: DADES GORGES → OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS → MARRAKECH

Final day of the journey. Departure after breakfast to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” gateway to the desert and filming location for dozens of major productions. Optional visit to Atlas Studios, the world’s largest film studio. Then Ait Ben Haddou: the 17th-century clay ksar and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, featured in films such as The Mummy, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. Time to explore the ksar on foot. Lunch nearby.
In the afternoon, ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass — at 2,260 meters, the highest paved mountain pass in Morocco — with spectacular views on both sides of the range before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
End of the 5-day tour from Tangier to Marrakech.
