Planning a trip to Morocco can seem complicated at first. There are so many cities to visit, so many possible routes, and such a variety of landscapes between the coast, the Atlas Mountains, the imperial cities, and the Sahara Desert, that many travelers don’t know where to start. Don’t worry — you are in the right place.
At Explora Marruecos Rutas, we have been helping travelers from all over the world design the perfect trip based on their time, interests, and budget. Here we explain step by step how to plan your adventure with us, so you have everything clear from the beginning and can travel without stress.
Step 1: Think about the type of trip you want
Before booking anything, take a few minutes to imagine your ideal trip. You don’t need to decide everything, just a general idea. Ask yourself things like: how much time do I have, how many people are traveling, am I traveling as a couple, family, friends, or solo, am I looking for adventure or relaxation, am I more interested in culture, nature, food, or a mix of everything, do I prefer simple hotels or luxury accommodation.
With these answers, you already have a strong base. We take care of the rest.
Step 2: Choose how many days you will travel
3 to 4-day trips Ideal for a desert escape from Marrakech or Fes. They include crossing the Atlas valleys, visiting Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, a camel ride at sunset, and a night in a Berber camp under the stars.
7-day trips A full week to discover Morocco’s highlights: Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, the Sahara dunes, Dades and Todra Gorges, and Marrakech. This is the most popular option for first-time visitors.
9 to 10-day trips Allow you to add destinations like Chefchaouen, the blue city in the north, or Essaouira, the coastal town with Atlantic breeze and fresh seafood. A more relaxed pace with more time in each place.
12-day or 2-week trips The complete experience. Travel across Morocco from north to south without rushing, with extra nights in the desert, time to explore souks, visit Berber villages in the Atlas, and discover less touristy places only locals know.
If you have less than 3 days or more than 15, we can still help you. Every route is tailor-made.
Step 3: Decide where to start and end
Marrakech, the red city, famous for Jemaa el-Fnaa square, Majorelle Gardens, and its proximity to the desert.
Fes, the spiritual and cultural capital with the oldest medina in the world.
Casablanca, the largest and most modern city with many international flights.
Tangier, ideal if arriving from Spain by ferry or combining Morocco with Europe.
Our recommendation is to enter in one city and leave from another so you don’t repeat routes and make the most of your time.
Step 4: Choose your accommodation style
Budget option Traditional riads, family-run hotels, and standard desert camps — authentic and comfortable.
Standard option Well-rated riads, 4-star hotels with pools, and superior desert camps with private bathrooms and hot showers.
Luxury option Boutique riads, 5-star hotels with spas, and luxury desert camps with private tents, fine dining, and personalized service.
Step 5: Think about experiences you don’t want to miss
Camel ride in the Erg Chebbi dunes, night in a Berber camp with traditional music, Moroccan cooking class, hammam and massage, guided visit to Fes tanneries, quad or buggy ride in the desert, hiking in Ourika Valley or Ouzoud waterfalls, boat trip and seafood lunch in Essaouira, visiting Berber families in the Atlas with mint tea, sunrise photography in the dunes.
Just tell us what interests you and we will include it.
Step 6: Share your idea and we prepare your proposal
We will send you a personalized proposal with a day-by-day itinerary, accommodation suggestions, activities, detailed pricing, and practical recommendations.
