GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Nine days from Casablanca to Marrakech — the most recommended itinerary starting from this city. The key difference compared to shorter tours is that Day 1 includes a full visit of Casablanca before continuing to Rabat, Day 3 is entirely dedicated to Chefchaouen, and Day 7 is a full desert exploration day in Merzouga with a 4×4 excursion including a visit to a nomadic family, Gnawa music in Khamlia, and the flamingo lake. Everything is designed at a relaxed pace to fully enjoy each destination without rushing.
Welcome to Morocco. Pick-up from the airport or your hotel. The morning begins with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, the most impressive Islamic monument in Morocco and the seventh largest in the world. Its 210-meter minaret rises directly over the Atlantic Ocean, and its interiors — zellij mosaics, white marble columns, and carved cedar ceilings — represent the peak of contemporary Moroccan craftsmanship. Afterwards, we walk along Casablanca’s seaside promenade, a city known for its Art Deco architecture, before driving to Rabat to explore the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas with its white walls and Andalusian gardens overlooking the Bou Regreg estuary.

Breakfast and departure north, crossing the heart of Morocco towards the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen appears at the end of a valley framed by two peaks — Jebel Tissouka and Jebel Meggou — and its blue medina is revealed as you pass through the gate. Check-in at the riad and free afternoon to explore the first alleyways and enjoy a mint tea on one of its terraces.

A full day in the blue city. In the morning, optional guided tour of the medina, the 15th-century Kasbah, Uta el-Hammam square, and local artisan souks. Late morning, you can hike up the Rif trails to natural viewpoints overlooking the blue rooftops of the city. The afternoon is perfect for exploring the souks or relaxing in one of the cafés lining the most photographed streets in Morocco.

Breakfast and journey through Rif Berber villages. Arrival at Volubilis, Morocco’s best-preserved Roman archaeological site: 2nd and 3rd-century mosaics, the Capitol, baths, and the Arch of Caracalla have survived for over eighteen centuries in this fertile valley between the Atlas and Rif mountains. Then Meknes, the imperial city of Sultan Moulay Ismail, with its monumental Bab el Mansour — one of the most beautiful triumphal arches in the Islamic world — and his Mausoleum of white marble and silence. Lunch. Arrival in Fes at sunset.

Expert local guide for a full day in Fes. The tour covers the golden gate of the Royal Palace, the UNESCO-listed medina, the University of Al Quaraouiyine — the oldest continuously operating university in the world, founded in 859 — the Al Attarine Madrasa with its geometric plaster and tilework, Nejjarine Fountain in the carpenters’ square, the Chouara Tanneries with their colorful dye vats seen from leather shop terraces, the Mellah (Jewish quarter), and Borj Nord fortress with the best panoramic view over the city.

Breakfast and departure south. Ifrane, the mountain town with alpine architecture known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Cedar forest where Barbary macaques roam freely. Lunch en route. Ziz Valley with its palm oasis landscapes. Arrival in Merzouga in the late afternoon: camels waiting at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. The ride to the camp takes place as the sand shifts from gold to copper tones. Welcome tea, private tent, dinner, and evening around the fire with Berber drumming under a star-filled sky.

Sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes from a nearby ridge. Breakfast, then a full-day 4×4 desert excursion. First stop: Khamlia village, where descendants of sub-Saharan Africans preserve the Gnawa music tradition with powerful rhythms and chants. Then the abandoned village of M’Fis and its old lead mines used for kohl production. Next, a nomadic family living beyond the dunes: tea with them in their traditional tent and insight into their desert lifestyle. The Flamingo Lake, where migratory birds stop if conditions allow, completes the excursion. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Merzouga riad in the afternoon for rest.

Breakfast at the riad. Visit Rissani market if it is a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday) — an authentic Berber souk trading spices, livestock, pottery, and textiles. View of the Tinghir oasis and its mud villages. Todra Gorge: 300-meter limestone cliffs with a narrow passage for river and road. Short walk. Afternoon arrival at Dades Gorges with its “monkey fingers” rock formations and winding canyon road.

Final day. Ouarzazate with optional visit to Atlas Studios, where films like Gladiator and The Mummy were shot. Ait Ben Haddou: the famous UNESCO-listed pre-Saharan ksar featured in Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Lunch nearby. Afternoon drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech.
